I hope this edition of the 2nd City Update (2CU) finds you and your family both in good health and spirits.
The Hawaii Department of Transportation has given notice of several significant lane closures to take place over the weekend and on weeknights. Please plan your weekend travel and your weeknight commutes accordingly to avoid being caught in the congestion:
- Friday night (tonight): Eastbound (EB) H-1 freeway through Pearl City, 2-3 lanes closed overnight
- Saturday night: Westbound (WB) H-1 freeway through Pearl City, 2-3 lanes closed overnight
- Sunday night, weeknights:
- EB H-1 freeway through Pearl City, 2-3 lanes closed starting at 6:30PM
- WB H-1 freeway from Makakilo Drive to the Barbers Pt./Campbell Ind. Park exit, complete closure with traffic detoured through Kapolei
- WB H-1 freeway from Vineyard Blvd. off-ramp to School St. off-ramp, 2 lanes closed from 9 P.M. to 4 A.M.

Summer Reading Volunteers wanted at the Kapolei Public Library – The Kapolei Public Library is seeking teens to volunteer for the summer to assist teens, children, and parents with summer reading registration and give out reading prizes. Prospective volunteers must attend an orientation on Wed. May 23rd at 6:00 P.M. to be eligible. For more information, click over to the Kapolei Public Library. |

Kapolei High School 2018 Commencement Exercises (Fri. May 25th @ 6:00 P.M.) – Come out as we congratulate Kapolei High School’s Class of 2018. Note that on-campus parking is limited and traffic that afternoon and evening around Kapolei High School will be severely impacted. |

West Oahu Pet Walk (Sat., June 2nd, 5:00 P.M.) – Join Poi Dogs & Popoki (PDP) at the fifth annual West Oahu Pet Walk! Kick-off your summer at Hawaii’s ONLY lighted night walk for pets and people and help raise money to save Oahu animals. Meet other animal lovers at this evening walk under the stars and enjoy the lighted festivities with four-legged friends from around the island. Summer Day Camps at the Kroc Center (starting Fri., June 1st) – This summer, the Kroc Center Hawaii is offering week-long day camp programs, where your child can stay engaged and happy in endless activities.
