Kapolei High School Parking Lot
Kapolei Clean & Green Day is a community event where West Oahu residents are invited to safely discard, donate or recycle many household items in celebration of Earth Day 2017. This event is presented as a community service of the Office of State Representative Sharon E. Har. A full list of items accepted can be found at the bottom of this page.
We would like to extend a special thanks to all of our event partners both for their participation and their services that help to keep West Oahu clean, safe and secure. If you have any questions, or would like further information, please contact the Office of Rep. Sharon Har by phone (808-586-8500) or by email at rephar@capitol.hawaii.gov.
Document shredding: ProFile Record Systems of Kapolei will be on hand to shred any sensitive or confidential documents (up to two boxes per household) that you wish to discard. With the prevalence of identity theft, security experts advise people to keep a minimal amount of documents (old tax returns, bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial documents) on hand. Everything else should be securely and confidentially shredded so that this information cannot be accessed by thieves who are fishing for information.
E-waste: Old and broken electronics contain metals (such as lead and mercury) that are toxic to the environment. If discarded in your household trash, these metals will eventually be buried in a landfill and left for millenia to leach and likely contaminate our ground water supply. T & N Computer Recycling Services (and other service providers) will be on-hand to accept your E-waste for safe disposal. Please see below for a full list of E-Waste that will be accepted.
Batteries: Like other E-waste, batteries contain metals (lead, cadmium, nickel, lithium, etc.) that can contaminate the environment. Car batteries also contain acids that can be corrosive and toxic. Interstate batteries will be on-hand to collect batteries of all types to be recycled.
Used oil: Pacific Biodiesel will be on-hand to collect any used cooking oil that you might have around your house. Instead of sending it to a landfill, that jar of leftover chicken, beef or pork fat underneath your sink can be recycled as biodiesel.
Used clothing, glasses and hearing aids: Your used clothing, glasses and hearing aids can be donated at Kapolei Clean & Green Day to community organizations to benefit individuals who might have difficulty affording them. Your donation of used glasses to Lion’s Club International may be the gift of clear vision for someone who might not be able to afford brand new frames.
