Aloha Friends!
Welcome to the 2nd City Update! This website is provided as a community service of Hawaii State Representative Sharon E. Har to provide updates to the community of Kapolei, Makakilo (and points beyond) about events, traffic advisories and other information that might be useful as residents of West Oahu.
We hope that this will be your one-stop-shop for events and information about events in Kapolei and Makakilo. Our weekly emails have been very successful and we continue to receive more and more requests by community organizations to let West Oahu residents know about their upcoming event. The 2nd City Update (or “2CU” as we like to call it) allows us to publish information much more frequently without clogging up your inbox with more emails. It is our goal to keep information concise, useful, and up-to-date.
It may take a little while to populate this website with more information. Until then, I hope you will click on the tabs above for two upcoming events that are being hosted by the Office of Rep. Sharon Har:
Saturday, April 15th, 2017 – Kapolei Keiki Wellness Day is an annual event that serves as a one-stop-shop for knowledge, resources and services that are readily available to assist families to raise healthy children. When these service providers are brought under one roof, accessing these resources is quick and efficient. All that time saved can instead be devoted to spending time with our families. Come join us at the Kapolei High School Gymnasium from 9AM to 12PM. Click on the page above for information on activities and exhibits that have been confirmed so far.
Saturday, April 22nd, 2017 – Kapolei Clean & Green Day is also an event at Kapolei High School’s parking lot that served as a venue for residents to get sensitive documents with personal and/or finanicial information shredded. These documents are one method that thieves use to steal identities and need to be disposed of safely. We have teamed up with Pro-File to have up to two boxes of documents per household shredded. Additionally, other service providers will be on-hand to collect items such as small batteries, old electronic devices, cell phones and even clothing to be reused, recycled or to be safely and properly discarded. Click on the page above for more information, and a complete list of items that will be collected.
Your patience as we get the 2nd City Update running is greatly appreciated. We hope that this will help us serve Kapolei and Makakilo even better, and that it will be the first place you turn for all the information that you need to live, work and play in Oahu’s Second City.
Malama Pono.
